Open Space

  • The west side of Groton has less open space than the east side. Truly livable communities need equitable access to parks and trails, just like they need access to public transit, affordable housing, good education, and healthcare.

  • We have advocated to increase open space acreage in Town. On the west side of town, we have been involved with the Merritt property swap, trail-blazing on the Sassacus Nature Preserve, Maple Glen trail blazing, preservation of forested open space at closed elementary schools, and fundraising for the Watrous/Wolfebrook property acquisition.

  • We are doing extensive research and raising concerns about large, even mega redevelopment in areas such as the Mystic Oral School property and Gotspace’s proposed Data Centers on 380 acres of forested land.
